In July 2023, Vietnam Electricity Group has ensured sufficient electricity supply to serve socio-economic development and meet the daily needs of the people. The entire system's electricity output in July 2023 reached 26.20 billion kWh - an increase of 7.1% over the same period in 2022. Accumulated for 7 months, the entire system's electricity output reached 160.58 billion kWh - increased by 1.9% over the same period in 2022. The mobilization ratio of some types of power sources to the total electricity output produced in the entire system is as follows:

The mobilization ratio of some types of power sources to the total electricity output produced in the entire system is as follows:
+ Hydropower: 36.80 billion kWh, accounting for 22.9%. Northern lakes continue to have very poor water return, only reaching 30 - 60% of the average for many years, with almost no floods.
+ Coal thermal power: 79.95 billion kWh, accounting for 49.8%. After the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, TKV and Dong Bac Corporation delivered an increased volume of coal compared to the contract, ensuring that coal-fired power plants are produced with high output. electricity output is higher and inventory reserves are also increased.
+ Gas turbines: 18.01 billion kWh, accounting for 11.2%. The amount of gas supplied is still low compared to the operating needs of gas power plants (because gas fields have declined).
+ Oil thermal power: 1.23 billion kWh, accounting for 0.8%
+ Renewable energy: 22.11 billion kWh, accounting for 13.8% (of which solar power reached 15.48 billion kWh, wind power reached 6.06 billion kWh).
+ Imported electricity: 2.22 billion kWh, accounting for 1.4%.
In the first 7 months of 2023, electricity production of EVN and Power Generation Corporations (including joint stock companies) will reach 67.55 billion kWh, accounting for 42.07% of the electricity production of the entire system.
Regarding construction investment: In the first 7 months of 2023, EVN and its units have started 36 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 49 power grid projects from 110 kV to 500 kV (including: 01 500 kV projects, 07 220kV projects and 41 110 kV projects).
Another news
Impact of floods and landslides in the Central Highlands, the South and some Northern provinces on the operation of power sources and grids
In recent days, floods and landslides in the Central Highlands, the South and some Northern provinces have affected power source and grid operations. Due to floods in all 3 regions, the water flow to the lakes increased, adding a significant amount of water to the hydroelectric lakes.

Power plants need to adjust power generation capacity in accordance with actual hydrological developments during the main flood season
According to information from the National Load Dispatch Center (A0), by the beginning of July 2023, the Northern region had entered the period of starting rain and floods, and the water level of most hydroelectric reservoirs was Most of them have enough water to generate electricity.
The electricity supply situation in the North will be basically guaranteed from June 23, 2023
In recent days, the water level of hydroelectric reservoirs has been raised, a number of thermal power units that encountered problems have been overcome, under the close, drastic and timely direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health. Industry and Trade, the Committee for Management of State Capital at Enterprises and the sharing and coordination of leaders of provinces and cities, the electricity supply situation has improved.
Clarifying information related to coal supply for power generation
Currently, in some mass media, it is mentioned that there is a "shortage of 01 million tons of coal for thermal power production". To avoid public misunderstanding about the responsibilities of coal suppliers, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) would like to clarify the above information as follows:
Information publicity and transparency on implementing procedures of transitional renewable energy projects
After the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 21/QD-BCT dated 7/1/2023 on regulations on electricity generation price bracket for transitional solar and wind power plants, Power Trading Company (under EVN) issued a document to the Investors requesting the submission of documents for calculation and negotiation of electricity prices. The Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity has also held conferences with project investors many times to discuss and remove difficulties and problems related to records, orders and procedures for electricity prices negotiation, power purchase and sale contracts, etc. The prescribed processes and procedures have also been publicly and transparently promulgated by EVN and sent to investors.
