The H2 generator of the SS3A hydropower plant has a stator magnetic circuit made of 2,057 magnetic corrugated iron sheets stacked on top of each other to form 35 layers, tightly clamped with M42 bolts. During operation, the factory operations management team inspected, evaluated and discovered that the magnetic corrugated iron sheet in the bottom layer had moved, causing damage to the conductor insulation. If the conductor continues to cut into the insulation, an electrical discharge will occur, which can cause damage to the generator. At that time, processing will take a lot of time and money. Early and thorough detection and handling plays a particularly important role for power plants, helping to prevent electrical discharge incidents of generating sets.
To handle the displaced magnetic corrugated iron sheets, which could potentially affect the insulation of the busbars, the repair department has thoroughly handled the displaced magnetic corrugated iron sheets. The solution is to calculate the appropriate tightening force of 1,750Nm and hydraulically tighten evenly on 140 sets of M42 bolts clamping the H2 generator stator's magnetic plates, ensuring that the magnetic plates are tightly clamped and do not move during operation. Clean, grind flat, and tig weld the magnetic corrugated iron layer at the displaced position; Insert the Tectolit backing into the bottom of the magnetic slot before installing the inner layer guide.

During this repair, SS3A handled 74 damaged conductor bars (replaced 56 conductor bars, treated insulation and reinstalled 18 conductor bars in use); Clean, insulate and reinstall 118 conductor bars in the outer layer. At the same time, the Company also carries out tasks such as insulation restoration, magnetic pole testing; Check and wedge loose guide rod positions; Check, maintain and replace damaged generator air coolers; Testing short-circuit characteristics and no-load characteristics of the generator. The entire workload was completed by SS3A in 26 days, 19 days beyond the approved schedule of 45 days. This result comes from properly organizing work and implementing appropriate construction methods at the site; The technical team provided timely solutions and met technical requirements. As of March 31, 2021, the unit has completed a 72-hour test run with parameters meeting technical requirements.
Self-help handling of broken busbars in large quantities confirms that SS3A's technical team and repair force have mastered insulation treatment technology. SS3A always accurately and promptly evaluates the current status and proactively fixes problems with the equipment system so that the power units are always ready to operate.
